Pat Cummins achieved a rare six-hitting feat during Sunrisers Hyderabad's 5-wicket loss to Lucknow Super Giants in match 7 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday (March 27).
Walking in to bat at number eight with his side at 156/6 after 16 overs, Cummins smashed three sixes in a row off his first three balls to join an elusive list that includes only Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Nicholas Pooran and Sunil Narine.

The Sunrisers skipper first hit Shardul Thakur for back to back sixes in the 17th over before resuming the big hitting in the 18th over against Avesh Khan, who eventually got his man the very next ball. Although he departed, Cummins had created a rare IPL feat.
The three sixes in a row off his first three balls put him in the company of MS Dhoni (2024), Pooran (2023) and Narine (2021) who all achieved the same feat in earlier seasons of the Indian Premier League.
Narine achieved the feat first, smashing a hattrick of maximums against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2021 clash at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The KKR batter, who walked in to bat at number five, hit RCB medium pacer Dan Christian for three successive sixes.
Two years later, the feat was again achieved after LSG's Pooran, who walked in to bat at number five following the dismissal of Marcus Stoinis, hit three sixes in a row off Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Abhishek Sharma during a league stage match at Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad in IPL 2023.
Last season, the veteran Chennai Super Kings star Dhoni had smashed three successive sixes in the final four deliveries of the El Clasico clash against Mumbai Indians. Walking in to bat at number six at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Dhoni took MI skipper to the cleaners. Dhoni smashed hattrick of sixes to start his innings against Hardik Pandya.
