IPL 2025: PBKS owner Preity ZInta apologises to Fans for 'Curt Behavior' during Dharamshala Match - What is the Reason?

By MyKhel Staff

Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta took to social media to share her thoughts and appreciation following the abrupt suspension of the IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala, along with apologizing to the fans well.

The match, which was halted after just 10.1 overs, was called off due to security concerns stemming from reported air raid alerts in nearby regions like Jammu and Pathankot on Thursday (May 8).

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Preity detailed her relief after returning home from what she described as "a crazy last few days."

"Finally back home after a crazy last few days. A heartfelt thank you to Indian Railways & our Railway minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw for helping both IPL teams and all officials & families leave Dharamshala in a safe, swift & comfortable way. A big thank you to @JayShah, Mr Arun Dhumal, BCCI & our CEO Mr Satish Menon & the Operations team of @PunjabKingsIPL for helping co coordinate the evacuation of our stadium in Dharamshala safely & in an orderly manner. Everything was handled so well," she wrote on X.

Zinta was also seen in widely shared videos urging spectators to exit the stadium calmly after the announcement was made. She later acknowledged the fans' exemplary behaviour and composure, expressing sincere gratitude for their cooperation during the evacuation.

"Finally to all the people that were in the Dharamshala stadium - Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou for not panicking & for any stampedes. You guys are absolute rock stars. I'm sorry I was a bit curt & said no to pictures with everyone but the need of the hour was the safety of everyone and it was my duty & responsibility to make sure everyone stayed safe. Thank you for making it possible. Love you all," her post added.

The prompt and orderly evacuation of players, officials, broadcasters, and fans-facilitated by coordination between the BCCI, Punjab Kings' management, and local authorities-ensured that the volatile situation did not escalate into chaos.

After that, the players and staff were transported to Delhi via Jalandhar as a special train was deployed for them. Apart from that, the Indian Premier League has taken a halt for at least a week as BCCI announced an immediate postponement. But with the India and Pakistan ceasefire, the IPL 2025 may resume soon.
