Punjab Kings put together one of their most complete performances of the season to register a thumping 37-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in Match 54 of IPL 2025 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
With this win, PBKS soared into the top two on the points table, while LSG's playoff hopes suffered a significant blow after another disjointed showing.

Sent in to bat, PBKS made the most of the batting-friendly conditions. Prabhsimran Singh set the tone with a fearless 91 off 48 balls, taking the attack to LSG's pace battery from the outset. His innings was laced with six boundaries and seven maximums, and his partnerships with Shreyas Iyer and later Shashank Singh ensured Punjab never lost momentum. Iyer chipped in with a classy 45, while Shashank hammered 33 off just 16 balls to give the innings further impetus. Josh Inglis's cameo - a fiery 30 from 14 - helped Punjab post a mammoth 236/5, which proved too steep for the visitors.
LSG's chase never got going. They were rocked early in the powerplay and never recovered from those initial blows. Arshdeep Singh struck twice in quick succession, removing Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, while Chahal dismissed Nicholas Pooran with a sharp delivery that turned past the bat. With three top-order wickets lost in the first six overs, LSG were reduced to 49/3. Ayush Badoni did show some fight with a composed half-century, but the run rate kept mounting, and wickets fell at regular intervals. Abdul Samad's resistance in the middle order delayed the inevitable, but Punjab's bowling unit, led by Arshdeep and well supported by Omarzai and Chahal, held their nerve to restrict LSG to 199/7.
The defining moment of the match came within the first six overs of Lucknow's chase. Facing a daunting target, LSG needed a strong start, but their innings was derailed almost immediately. Arshdeep Singh removed Mitchell Marsh for 8 and then had Aiden Markram trapped soon after. Yuzvendra Chahal added to the pressure by dismissing Nicholas Pooran, who was bowled attempting a risky heave. At the end of the powerplay, LSG were tottering at 27/3 at a stage and couldn't recover from that as the Kings secured a comfortable victory.
