IPL 2025: PBKS vs MI match to be Shifted from Dharamshala after Operation Sindoor, New Venue Confirmed

By MyKhel Staff

The IPL 2025 fixture between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), originally scheduled to be played on May 11 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, is set to be shifted.

The decision comes in the wake of heightened security concerns stemming from Operation Sindoor, a military response launched by India following a terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the loss of 26 lives.

IPL 2025 PBKS vs MI match to be Shifted from Dharamshala after Operation Sindoor New Venue Confirmed

Operation Sindoor saw Indian forces conduct precision strikes on multiple terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In the immediate aftermath, several northern airports, including the Kangra Airport that serves Dharamshala, were temporarily shut down. The travel disruption and regional instability prompted the IPL authorities to reconsider the venue for the upcoming fixtures.

PBKS vs MI match shifted to Mumbai

Given Dharamshala's proximity to sensitive border areas and the ongoing military developments, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opted to move the high-profile match to Mumbai. The DY Patil Stadium has emerged as a likely venue alternative, although an official confirmation is awaited. The Wankhede Stadium, which is already hosting other IPL fixtures, may not be available for the rescheduled match and the match will be either played at DY Patil or at the Brabourne Stadium.

PBKS vs DC match under doubt

There is also uncertainty surrounding the PBKS vs Delhi Capitals match scheduled for May 8 at the same Dharamshala venue. BCCI officials are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to make a final call based on the evolving security assessments and logistical feasibility.

MyKhel understands the Delhi Capitals team is also in Dharamshala and it is to be seen if the match is played or gets rescheduled. Punjab Kings were supposed to play three home matches in Dharamshala, which is just around 60 km from the India-Pakistan border.

Amid the current unrest, arranging a match at the picturesque stadium with so many people can be a security risk, and the central government is likely to take the final call on it.
