IPL 2025 Playoff Scenario: As Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) lose to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), they are eliminated from playoff contention in IPL 2025. This result has a significant impact on the playoff qualification race.
With that, five teams are now eliminated in the race for the playoffs and only one spot remains for the final four race, with two contenders in it.

IPL 2025 Playoff Scenario 1
The match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians on May 21 will determine the final entrant in the IPL 2025 playoffs. If Delhi Capitals lose that match, they will be eliminated and Mumbai Indians will qualify. But if DC win it, then they would leapfrog MI in the playoff race and then the Punjab Kings match will determine the fates.
IPL 2025 Playoff Scenario 2 (Only if DC win against MI on May 21)
If Delhi Capitals win on May 21, then the fate of the two teams will hinge on Punjab Kings. Both MI and DC are set to play the Kings and that would determine the final entrant.
- May 24: PBKS vs DC - If Delhi Capitals win, they will be qualified for the Playoffs.
- May 26: PBKS vs MI - If Delhi Capitals lose on May 24, then MI will have to win against Punjab Kings to qualify for the Playoffs. If MI lose, the Capitals will qualify.
IPL 2025 Playoffs; Who will Finish in Top Two Positions?
Among the teams, Gujarat Titans currently have the most advantage in finishing in the top two positions. If they win their next two matches, they will finish as the No. 1 team. Even if they lose one match, a defeat for RCB or PBKS in their remaining two would ensure GT's top status.
Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru don't play any overlapping teams and will have to bank on each other's results (GT results as well) for their top two status.
For the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, the scenario for a top-two finish is a bit complicated.
MI will have to win their two matches and hope RCB and PBKS lose their two in order to qualify in the top two. For the Capitals, two wins won't be enough as NRR will come into play as well.
