Punjab Kings Kickstart IPL 2025 Preparations with Training Camp in Dharamshala

By MyKhel Staff

IPL 2025: As the countdown begins for Season 18 of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab Kings (PBKS) have commenced their pre-season training camp at the scenic Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala.

This camp, running from March 12 to March 15, aims to refine the team's strategies and ensure players are in peak form ahead of the tournament. Under the guidance of the coaching staff, players will work on their game plans and conditioning to get match-ready.

Several key Indian players, including wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh, all-rounder Shashank Singh, and veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, are participating in the camp. The PBKS coaching staff, led by head coach Ricky Ponting, will also feature assistant coach Brad Haddin and fast-bowling coach James Hopes.

Explaining the rationale behind choosing Dharamshala as the training venue, Ricky Ponting stated, "It feels great to come here and a lot of the guys haven't played at this ground and we've got three games in a row at the back end of the tournament here. So the thinking behind deciding to come here was to give the boys a bit of a feel of this ground."

He further added, "We'll make the most of the training days here and then we've got the possibility of five or six days training in Chandigarh."

Following the Dharamshala camp, the team will shift its training base to Mullanpur from March 16, where captain Shreyas Iyer and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh will join the squad. Both players were part of India's victorious 2025 Champions Trophy squad in Dubai. The Mullanpur sessions will take place at PBKS' home venue, the newly built PCA Stadium. Several international stars, including Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, and Lockie Ferguson, will also be part of the camp.

In preparation for the season, PBKS has already conducted four training camps to help players acclimate to different playing conditions and foster team chemistry. These included an early January camp in Mumbai, two sessions in Chandigarh, and another in Dharamshala in early March.

PBKS are set to launch their IPL 2025 campaign on March 25 against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi International Stadium. After an away fixture against Lucknow Super Giants, they will return to Mullanpur for back-to-back home encounters against Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
