IPL 2025: RCB Crumble to 95/9 in Rain-Shortened Clash Against PBKS- X Reacts

RCB vs PBKS IPL 2025: In a rain-affected encounter reduced to 14 overs per side at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru endured a night to forget with the bat, collapsing to 95 for 9 after being put in to bat by Punjab Kings.

What started with promise quickly turned into chaos for RCB, as they lost wickets in clusters and never recovered from early blows. Arshdeep Singh set the tone in the first three overs by removing both Philip Salt and Virat Kohli, sending shockwaves through the Chinnaswamy crowd.

Kohli's rare failure - a 3-ball duck - was a big blow, and RCB never quite found their footing thereafter.

Captain Rajat Patidar tried to steady the innings with an aggressive 23 off 18 balls, but wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Krunal Pandya all departed cheaply, leaving RCB reeling at 33 for 5 inside seven overs.

Patidar's dismissal in the 8th over triggered another mini-collapse, and the middle and lower order folded meekly. Only Tim David showed some resistance, blasting an unbeaten 26-ball 50, but found little support as the rest of the batting lineup crumbled around him. No other batter, apart from Patidar and David, managed to cross double digits.

Here's a look at the reactions from the fans.

''Rcb's strategy was to attack every ball as the match was shortened to 14 overs, but it clearly backfired'', a fan wrote on X.

''KKR fans backed RCB today, and RCB instantly started playing like KKR, collapse mode: activated'', another user commented.

''Very boring match guys..#RCB Always over dependent on Kohli or top order. if they fail then total batting collapse. Same situation every year..#RCBvPBKS'', a fan vented out.

Punjab's bowlers shared the spoils with discipline and precision. Arshdeep Singh led the attack with figures of 2-23, while Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Harpreet Brar chipped in with also two wickets each. Harpreet's double blow in the 12th over sealed RCB's fate, restricting them to a sub-par total.

From 4/1 to 63/9, RCB's innings was a tale of missed opportunities, poor shot selection, and a clinical bowling display by Punjab. With just 95 on the board, RCB would now need a near-perfect effort with the ball to stay in the contest and eke out a famous win at their own den.
