IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a commanding 50-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 8th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, held on Friday, March 28, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Despite losing the toss and being put to bat first, RCB displayed a dominant performance, both with the bat and the ball.

RCB posted a challenging total of 196/7 in their 20 overs. Phil Salt gave the team a brisk start, scoring 32 off 16 balls at a strike rate of 200 before falling to Noor Ahmad. Virat Kohli held the innings together with a steady knock of 31 off 30 balls, but it was Rajat Patidar who stole the show with an explosive 51 off 32 balls, striking four sixes and three boundaries.
Devdutt Padikkal contributed a quick 27 off 14 balls, while Tim David provided the late fireworks with an unbeaten 22 off 8 balls, ensuring RCB reached a competitive total.
For CSK, Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler, claiming 3/36 in his four overs. Matheesha Pathirana and Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with key breakthroughs, picking up two and one wickets, respectively.
Chasing 197 for victory, CSK's innings never gained momentum. They suffered an early collapse, losing Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi within the first two overs. Rachin Ravindra fought hard with a quickfire 41 off 31 balls, but wickets fell at regular intervals.
Josh Hazlewood was the wrecker-in-chief for RCB, claiming 3/21 in his four-over spell. Yash Dayal supported well, picking up two wickets for 18 runs. Liam Livingstone also made an impact with the ball, taking 2/28.
Despite a valiant 30 off 16 balls from MS Dhoni towards the end, CSK managed only 146/8 in their 20 overs, falling 50 runs short.
1) Rajat Patidar's explosive fifty anchored RCB's innings.
2) Noor Ahmad's three-wicket haul kept CSK in the game.
3) Hazlewood's early strikes dismantled CSK's top order.
4) MS Dhoni's late flourish was not enough to salvage the chase.
