RCB vs PBKS rain: A steady drizzle has delayed the start of the highly anticipated IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
With the toss yet to take place, anxious fans have gathered in large numbers under the gloomy skies, hoping for the rain to clear soon.

Despite being light, the persistent drizzle has kept the covers firmly in place. Match officials are waiting for the rain to stop entirely before considering any resumption of proceedings. The ground staff, meanwhile, remains on standby, banking on the stadium's renowned sub-air drainage system that allows for quick drying once the weather clears.
With weather playing spoilsport, the IPL's official playing conditions have now become crucial. According to the league rules for IPL 2025, if playing time is lost due to rain or other interruptions, the number of overs for each side is revised at a rate of 14.11 overs per hour, including a 60-minute extension window to maximize play.
For a result to be officially recorded, each side must bat for at least five overs unless a result is achieved earlier. If rain continues to interfere during the match and both innings are affected, the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method will be used to determine the outcome.
The possibility of a shortened game still exists, with the latest cut-off time for a five-over contest being 10:56 PM IST. With Bengaluru having experienced rain spells lasting two to three hours over the past few nights, fans and players alike remain hopeful that the clouds will clear in time to allow for at least a curtailed encounter.
If even a five-overs-per-side contest can't be completed within the allowed playing time, including the one-hour extension window, the match will be declared a no result. In that case, both teams will earn one point each in the league standings.
