Team India and Mumbai Indians star batter Surykumar Yadav was full of praise for young Chennai Super Kings opener Ayush Mhatre following his knock against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025 on Saturday (May 3).
17-year-old Mhatre, who was roped in by CSK as a replacement for injured skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, has transformed the five-time champions' powerplay approach by showing intent ever since he has made his debut in the lucrative league.

On Saturday (May 3), Mhatre smashed his maiden fifty, becoming the third youngest at 17 years and 291 days of age to score a half century in the Indian Premier League. While he fell just one big hit away from a century, Mhatre earned plaudits from his senior state teammate of Mumbai.
The youngster smashed 5 sixes and 9 fours en-route to 94 off 48 balls, showing attacking intent throughout his stay at the crease. He even departed attempting for a six to reach the triple-figure mark at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Following his quickfire innings, Suryakumar Yadav took to social media to laud the youngster's intent and added that the future is here before the most famous tag line of Ian Bishop - "Remember the name!".
"Innings filled with intent, bravery and fire! The future is here. Remember the name," SKY posted on X with the picture of Mhatre, who had also earned the praise from the Indian T20I captain.
Earlier, while speaking in a video shared by IPL's official Instagram, Surya had said he has been following Mhatre's journey for two years now, and the youngster is a very hard-working boy. He also added that Mhatre is very honest to the game, and he really likes that quality of him.
"Ayush, I think, is a very good boy. I've been watching him really closely for the last two years now. And the way he practises, the way he works hard, I think that's a very important aspect in his life. And I really like one thing about him: that he's very honest to the game," Surya had said earlier when MI faced CSK.
"First for practice, last to leave from the ground. So these things do matter in a cricketer's life. And I know I've seen his journey very closely. Long way to go for him. I have only one message for him. Just be honest to the game. Just enjoy and be yourself. And that's it."
