The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sent a stern warning to all the ten franchises on the eve of the retention deadline day.
The IPL 2025 retention deadline day is on Thursday (October 31), but ahead of that, the BCCI conveyed their message to all the franchises about announcing the retained list.

The retention list is set to determine the future of the players in their respective IPL teams. Many players will be heading into the auction while a few will continue to be a part of their franchises for the next IPL cycle.
As the nation waits in bated breath for the announcement, a circular was sent to BCCI to the 10 franchises on Wednesday, which clearly mentioned not announcing any of the retention news to the media.
BCCI is planning to announce the retained players with an elaborate social media post and release, and only after the official announcement from the board, the franchises can send their respective releases or announcements on social media.
"We can't release anything. A franchise can only release the list officially after BCCI announcement," a source closely working with a franchise told MyKhel on condition of anonymity.
MyKhel understands the board is expected to announce the list around 5:30 pm today, which shall give the proper indications of all retained players of the ten teams.
The cricket community is rife with speculation that Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, two of India's prominent cricketers, may find themselves without a franchise. India captain Rohit Sharma is also tipped to leave Mumbai Indians, while MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are expected to stay with CSK and RCB respectively.
The IPL 2025 auction is expected to take place in between November 22 to November 25. The multi-day mega auction is likely to happen in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
