IPL 2025 Retention: Four players RCB are certain of retaining ahead of mega auction

By MyKhel Staff

IPL 2025 Retention: "The IPL franchises can retain a total of 6 players from their existing squad. This can be either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option," an IPL release confirmed on Saturday, September 28.

"It is at the discretion of the IPL franchise to choose their combination for Retentions and RTMs. The 6 retentions / RTM’s can have a maximum of 5 capped players (Indian & Overseas) and a maximum of 2 uncapped players," it added.

With retention rules already out, the ten IPL teams are now left with the tedious task of confirming and submitting their players retention list. It's that time of the year when every IPL fan is an expert, who prepares his/her own retention lists. We are also not far behind.

IPL Retentions 2025: Four Players RCB can retain ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction

Virat Kohli: The former RCB captain making a cut is a no-brainer. The 35-year-old has played all his life at the RCB, and has gone on record several times to reiterate that he would want to retire from the same franchise. He was RCB's leading run-scorer in IPL 2024, and there is no reason why RCB won't want the same.

Mohammed Siraj: Siraj is also a RCB regular, and one of Kohli's most trusted soldier. The India star could again be picked to lead the pace attack for the team. Despite not having his best of seasons, Siraj was RCB's joint-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024.

Anuj Rawat: The wicketkeeper-batter managed to score just 98 runs in five matches at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 127.27 last season. However, the 24-year-old southpaw is among the most talented youngsters in the country.

He recently scored 356 runs in 10 matches at an average of 44.5 and a strike rate of 156.83 in Delhi Premier League 2024. His top score was 121 which came off 66 balls as he smashed 11 sixes and six fours.

Uncapped players can be retained for Rs 4 crore as per Cricbuzz, and RCB would not want to miss signing a deal with Rawat. In the absence of retired Dinesh Karthik, now is the right time for RCB to groom an aggressive wicketkeeper-batter.

Yash Dayal: The pacer witnessed change in fortune after landing at RCB last season. He emerged as the joint-highest wicket-taker for the side to erase the bitter memory of getting hit for five sixes by KKR's Rinku Singh the previous year.

RCB could be up for another steal deal in case Yash Dayal does not make his India debut before October 31 - the last date for the teams to submit the players retention list. Yash Dayal, one of the rising India pacers has a high chance of being retained by RCB.

The franchise, which is still in the hunt for its maiden IPL trophy, could look to retain the likes of Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Rajat Patidar or Will Jacks through the RTM option in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
