Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have disclosed their list of retained players for the IPL 2025 season as the official announcement was made on Thursday (October 31).
As the reigning champions, having clinched their third IPL title earlier this year, KKR's decision to retain key players was anticipated as they prepare for the upcoming IPL cycle from 2025 to 2027.

The franchise has chosen to retain Six players: Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh and Harshit Rana. This decision reflects their strategy to maintain a strong core team.
Sunil Narine has been an integral part of KKR since joining in 2012. The West Indies player has been instrumental in securing three IPL titles for the team. With an impressive record of 180 wickets in his IPL career, Narine has also evolved into a powerful batsman in recent seasons. Andre Russell is another champion players for KKR who has been a mainstay since 2014.
Rinku Singh has emerged as a promising talent at KKR. Despite a modest performance in IPL 2024, his previous outstanding displays have earned him retention by the Knights. His potential continues to be recognized by the franchise as they look forward to future successes.
Varun Chakravarthy is another key player retained by KKR. Known for his mystery spin, he was previously retained ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. His exceptional performance last season justifies his retention at INR 11 crore, highlighting his value to the team.
Harshit Rana completes KKR's list of retained players. The Delhi pacer had an impressive season with the Knight Riders in IPL 2024. As an uncapped player, Harshit has been retained for Rs 4 crore. Ramandeep Singh, who played a key part for KKR last season, is also retained for Rs 4 crore.
Rinku Singh (Rs 13 crore)
Andre Russell (Rs 12 crore)
Varun Chakravarthy (Rs 12 crore)
Sunil Narine (Rs 12 crore)
Harshit Rana (Rs 4 crore)
Ramandeep Singh (Rs 4 crore)
After the four retentions, Kolkata Knight Riders have splashed a total of Rs 57 crore (Rs 13 cr + Rs 12 cr + Rs 12 cr + Rs 12 cr + Rs 4 cr + Rs 4 cr). The allotted purse for each IPL team is Rs 120 crore.
Although by simple division, it will seem that KKR have Rs 63 crore in the auction, the Knight Riders will actually appear in the auction with a kitty of Rs 51 crore.
As per the IPL rules, retention values four capped players are a total of Rs 61 crore (18,14,11,18 crore). Hence despite the Knight Riders paying a much lesser price to their players, KKR will be deducted a total of Rs 61 crore from their capped retentions, while the other Rs 8 crore are being deducted from their two uncapped signings. Hence, the Knights will have a Rs 51 crore purse in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
As per the IPL rules, Kolkata Knight Riders can use NO Right to Match (RTM) card as they have retained a maximum of six players.
