Where Talent meets Opportunity - this tagline of the Indian Premier League (IPL) perfectly depicts the mechanism of the IPL over the years. Along with the exposure at the grandest stage, it gives players an enormous financial security.

The IPL 2025 retention picks are likely to bring Laxmi (the Goddess of Wealth) to some deserved players. Although the franchises are yet to name their lists, the rumour mill and reports have started to filter in with just eight days remaining from the retention deadline.

IPL 2025

With the mega auction looming, the IPL franchises are set to pick the cream of their squad for continuation in the upcoming cycle. The players will cost a fortune though, as a potential retention of five capped players will chunk out Rs 75 crore (total purse Rs 120 crore).

But still, many franchises are set to invest a gigantic amount of money for some of their Indian stars. Some of the youngsters, who made a name for themselves in IPL 2024, are likely to receive a colossal award ahead of the auction. Most of the retained players who were picked up at their mere base price last season, are set to enjoy an astronomical hike in their salaries. In this article, we shall take a look at four players who are likely to get a mammoth salary hike ahead of IPL 2025-

Mayank Yadav (Lucknow Super Giants)

Expected IPL 2025 Retention Price: Rs 18 crore
Previous Salary: Rs 20 Lakh
Salary Hike: 8,900 %

India's pace sensation Mayank Yadav was bought for Rs 20 lakh in IPL 2022. He was left out of the IPL 2023 squad due to an injury. But the Lucknow Super Giants pacer has roared back in IPL 2024, becoming one of the most exciting players to watch. The pacer has a breakneck pace along with accuracy, making him one of the most prized commodities of Indian cricket. LSG are set to keep the 22-year-old, who recently made his India debut in the T20Is against Bangladesh. With that, Yadav is set to have a pay rise of 8900 per cent.

Nitish Reddy (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Expected IPL 2025 Retention Price: Rs 14 crore
Previous Salary: Rs 20 Lakh
Salary Hike: 6,900 %

Nitish Reddy has made a rapid rise in Indian cricket, courtesy of an excellent IPL 2024 with the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The young all-rounder showcased excellent batting quality and the added ability of pace bowling makes him a very exciting player to watch. Reddy also made his India debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh, which means SRH will pay him Rs 14 crore for retaining his services. After being bought for just Rs 20 lakh in the IPL 2024 auction, it is a gigantic 6900 per cent increment for the young India all-rounder.

Rinku Singh (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Expected IPL 2025 Retention Price: Rs 14 crore
Previous Salary: Rs 50 Lakh
Salary Hike: 2,700 %

Rinku Singh's amazing rise is set to be compensated with a huge salary hike. The southpaw has been a key player for KKR in the last two years and is going to be one of the retained names. As per reports, he is likely to receive INR 14 crore, thus an elevated salary of around 2,700 per cent. Rinku has become an India regular in T20Is, and will be hoping to continue his merry way with the Knight Riders.

Shashank Singh (Punjab Kings)

Expected IPL 2025 Retention Price: Rs 4 crore
Previous Salary: Rs 20 Lakh
Salary Hike: 1,900 %

Shashank Singh was one of the few bright spots for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. The Madhya Pradesh player showcased his immense skills and played some excellent knocks with the bat. PBKS are likely to retain Shashank for just Rs 4 crore as an uncapped player. Although Shashank's value is moderate in terms of IPL's spending limits, it is still a significant rise for the uncapped India batter who will have bigger responsibilites.
