IPL 2025 Retention: RCB release Retained Players List in a Puzzle? Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj make the List

As the IPL 2025 retention deadline nears, the franchises have started to tease the fans on social media in various innovative ways.

Across the entire Wednesday, all the teams have engaged their fans with some tantalizing posts across the social media handles, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the latest to delve into it.

RCB have posted a puzzle on their X handle, which is supposed to hold all of their retained players. They have challenged the fans to decipher the puzzle and the codes to find the names of the players who shall be part of the team in IPL 2025.

The fans have already started to decipher the puzzle with jumbled alphabets and some of them have even found the names. Apparently, the list shows the names of six players who can be potentially retained by the franchise.

IPL 2025 Retention: RCB Puzzle consists of 6 Names

Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, Rajat Patidar, Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green are the six names which can be deciphered from the riddle. But to be practical, RCB can't retain six capped players as the aforementioned players are. As per IPL norms, a franchise can retain a maximum of 5 capped players and one uncapped player.

Interestingly, in the puzzle, the names of Rajat Patidar and Faf du Plessis appear as Rajat and Faf, while the other names consist of their surnames (eg: Kohli, Siraj). This may indicate that RCB will only keep the four with surnames while the players with the name may actually be released.

RCB have been tipped to search for a captain in the auction as well, but the reports circulating on Wednesday have revealed that Virat Kohli is willing to captain them again. Although it is up to the fans to find the clues and bull's eye on the riddle, it seems some of the six names are certain to be retained.
