The IPL 2025 retention deadline is approaching as the teams are set to announce their final list of retained players ahead of the mega auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL 2024 champions, are tipped to keep some of their star players from the last edition.

Although captain Shreyas Iyer is being speculated to be left out, the West Indies duo Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are expected to stay at the franchise. The KKR think tank are mulling over a few players and the exact scenario will be revealed as BCCI announces the list, most probably on October 31.
Amid this, KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan was spotted with one of the Knight Riders players in Dubai. Shah Rukh, the Bollywood star, was seen in a part along with Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
Gurbaz has been a key part of the KKR unit but played a sporadic part in 2024. The 22-year-old Afghan batter played only three matches for them last season, scoring 62 runs in the process. Gurbaz's prospect of playing was hindered due to Phil Salt's amazing form.
Although Rahmanullah Gurbaz is an excellent batter with huge potential, the Knights are unlikely to retain him. He will be appearing in the auction and KKR may eye to re-buy him from the table.
Sunil Narine is in the top priority list for the Knight Riders for retention, whereas Andre Russell is also on the fray. In terms of Indian players, Rinku Singh will be staying with KKR while Harshit Rana looks set to be an uncapped retention for the Knight Riders.
Kolkata Knight Riders ended their decade-long trophy drought in IPL 2024. The Knights beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Final to clinch their third IPL title.
