IPL 2025 Retentions: Is Delhi Capitals leaving Delhi Capitals? Reports or rather rumours of the 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter leaving Delhi for Chennai Super Kings had even surfaced before the IPL 2024.
On Saturday (July 20) morning, a Dainik Jagran report came out suggesting that Delhi Capitals owners were not happy with Pant and were unsure about retaining him. It added that the southpaw could even be traded by Delhi Capitals.

However, Times of India and PTI reports later in the evening stated that Pant was not leaving Delhi anytime soon. They said that the solid relationship between Rishabh Pant and Delhi Capitals was unhinged, adding that they were already in touch with Pant and planning the roadmap for IPL 2025.
Delhi Capitals are very likely to retain Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav alongside Pant. All three players were part of the Indian team which recently won the T20 World Cup 2024.
Kuldeep and Axar have become integral parts of Delhi, and the latter in fact led the side in an IPL 2024 match in the absence of Pant. Overseas stars Tristan Stubbs and Jake Fraser-McGurk are also in contention to be retained by Delhi.
MyKhel's Verdict: Rishabh Pant leaving Delhi Capitals is highly unlikely. Reports and rumours would emerge from time-to-time in the lead up to the IPL 2025 mega auction, but it's almost certain that Pant would stay and lead Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 and beyond.
Rishabh Pant has stayed with the franchise even since he was picked by them ahead of debut IPL season in 2016. The franchise stood rock solid beside Pant as he missed the entire 2023 season due to a near-fatal car accident in December 2022. Pant stayed out of action for 14 months before making his comeback as the captain of the team in IPL 2024.
The emotional connect of Pant with the team was seen even when he arrived in the stadium on his cructhes to watch Delhi Capitals play in the IPL 2023.
