IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma-Suryakumar Yadav Power Mumbai Indians to Crushing 9-Wicket Win Over CSK

Mumbai Indians delivered a commanding performance to outclass Chennai Super Kings by 9 wickets in Match 38 of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium on 20th April. A sensational unbeaten century stand between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav turned the run-chase into a walk in the park for the home side.

After opting to bowl first, MI restricted CSK to a competitive 176/5. Chennai got off to a shaky start, losing Rachin Ravindra early, but Ayush Mhatre (32 off 15) and Shaik Rasheed (19 off 20) kept things ticking.

The middle-order fight was held together by Ravindra Jadeja, who played a crucial unbeaten knock of 53 off 35 balls. Contributions from Shivam Dube (50 off 32) helped CSK post a respectable total.

For MI, Jasprit Bumrah was once again the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 2/25 in his four overs, while Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner, and young Ashwani Kumar picked up a wicket each.

Chasing 177, MI lost Ryan Rickelton (24 off 19) to Ravindra Jadeja in the seventh over, but what followed was sheer domination. Rohit Sharma, coming into this match without a fifty in his previous seven games, found his rhythm in style. The MI opener smashed 76 off 45 balls*, hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes in a vintage display of controlled aggression.

At the other end, Suryakumar Yadav was in a mood to entertain. The right-hander was at his explosive best, tearing apart the CSK bowling attack with an unbeaten 68 off 30 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes. The duo added 114 runs for the second wicket in just 52 balls, finishing the chase in 15.4 overs.

With this emphatic win, Mumbai not only picked up two vital points but also gained a massive boost in net run rate. The clinical chase, anchored by their experienced Indian duo, reaffirmed MI's title credentials while exposing CSK's bowling vulnerabilities under pressure.
