IPL 2025: In an explosive display of power hitting, Romario Shepherd of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has etched his name in IPL history by smashing the fastest fifty of IPL 2025.
During the high-voltage clash between RCB and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Shepherd took just 14 balls to reach his half-century, setting a new benchmark for the fastest fifty in the ongoing season.

The West Indies all-rounder walked in when RCB were struggling at 157/5 in 17.4 overs. Despite the challenging situation, Shepherd injected a much-needed surge of energy into the innings. In the blink of an eye, he powered his way to 50 runs, all the while electrifying the crowd with his aggressive stroke play. His fiery knock included four boundaries and a remarkable six sixes, helping RCB reach a commanding total of 213 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Not only did Shepherd register the fastest fifty of the 2025 IPL season, but he also broke a long-standing record for RCB. The previous record for the fastest fifty by an RCB batter had been held by the legendary Chris Gayle, who achieved the feat in 17 balls against Pune Warriors India in 2013. Shepherd’s blistering 14-ball half-century has now etched his name alongside some of the biggest hitters in IPL history.
Shepherd’s explosive 14-ball fifty is now the joint second-fastest in IPL history, putting him alongside the likes of KL Rahul (PBKS) and Pat Cummins (KKR), who also reached their fifties in 14 balls. However, it is Yashasvi Jaiswal of Rajasthan Royals who still holds the record for the fastest half-century in IPL history, with an incredible 13-ball effort against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2023.
But for RCB fans, Shepherd's record-breaking knock is one to remember. His batting brilliance brought the team to a formidable 213-run total, a score that would put plenty of pressure on CSK’s batting order. Shepherd’s innings not only helped RCB recover from a challenging position but also showcased his potential as a game-changer in the IPL.
The 2025 IPL season has witnessed several explosive performances, but none quite like Romario Shepherd's 14-ball fifty. His ability to turn the game around in the dying stages of an innings makes him one of the most exciting players in the competition this year. With this knock, Shepherd has firmly placed himself on the map as one of the most dangerous finishers in the T20 format.
As RCB looks to capitalise on Shepherd’s fiery form, his performance against CSK will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the most memorable moments of the IPL 2025 season. The West Indies star's rapid-fire fifty has added to the allure of IPL's unpredictable and thrilling nature.
