IPL 2025: Sanjay Manjrekar Takes Dig at Ravi Shastri for Being 'Too Loud' at the Toss?

By MyKhel Staff

IPL 2025: The pre-match show ahead of the Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians IPL 2025 clash took an interesting turn when Sanjay Manjrekar made a pointed remark about toss presentations.

While discussing commentary styles, Sanjay Manjrekar praised his colleague Ian Bishop for his approach during the toss presentation, stating that the former West Indies pacer "doesn't make too much noise and asks the right kind of questions."

Sanjay Manjrekar Ravi Shastri toss IPL 2025

While Manjrekar didn't take Ravi Shastri's name, the comment was perceived by many as a subtle dig at the former India head coach, who is known for his loud and animated presence at the toss. While Manjrekar did not name Shastri directly, social media quickly picked up on the remark, sparking discussions about Shastri's hosting style.

Sanjay Manjrekar's observation did not go unnoticed, as fans took to Twitter to discuss whether he was referring to Shastri. One fan tweeted: "Sanjay Manjarekar Just Said about the Toss in #GTvMI "That's what you get with Ian Bishop, you don't get biggest loudest crowd but you get right questions and that makes our jobs easier." Was he targetting Ravi Shastri ?"

The criticism of Shastri's energetic toss presentations isn't new. In the recent RCB vs CSK match, Shastri was called out for failing to mention RCB captain Rajat Patidar's name at the toss. Fans also expressed frustration over his style.

"Am I the only one who doesn't like Ravi Shastri for the toss? Man trying to create hype that ain't even there. Looks cringe!" wrote a fan. While another fan wrote: "Is it just me or was Ravi Shastri legit high as f*ck at the toss, forgetting Rajat Patidar's name while staring him dead in the eye?"

"Ravi Shastri officiating toss now has become cringefest rather than entertaining. Everytime I see Ravi Shastri officiate toss I just mute the device," wrote another fan.

While some fans appreciate Shastri's high-energy approach as part of the entertainment factor, others believe it detracts from the professionalism of the toss. Manjrekar's remark, whether intentional or not, has reignited the debate over how much enthusiasm is too much during pre-match rituals.

With the IPL 2025 season in full swing, discussions around commentary styles are bound to continue. Whether Shastri takes note of the criticism or continues with his signature exuberance remains to be seen.
