El Clasico of Indian Premier League - Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Mumbai Indians (MI), clash of the joint-record champions, is set to take place as early as day two of the upcoming IPL 2025, which is slated to start on March 22.
The two sides may have had an underwhelming outing last season, but the MI vs CSK contest always garners the most interest amongst IPL matches as both the franchises are the most successful sides in the lucrative league's history, having won the title five times each.

The superstars in the teams - Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, are also one of the reasons for the contest to gain more interest. The rivalry between the two sides has also featured the likes of Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja among others.
CSK and MI have clashed as early as the opening clash in four editions of the IPL so far, having opened the tournament in 2009, 2012, 2018 and 2020. The heavyweight clash has often been played later part of the season, but the first El Clasico of this season will take place on the second day of the campaign this year.
BCCI officially released the IPL schedule on Sunday (February 16), revealing the dates for some of the feisty fixtures, including the highly-anticipated clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
The first 'El-Clasico' of IPL 2025, a clash between five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is set to take place at Chepauk after Rajasthan Royals face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad.
CSK vs MI IPL 2025 Match Date and Venue: The heavyweight clash will take place on Sunday (March 23) at the home of the Chennai Super Kings - MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai with the match set to start at 7:30 PM IST.
Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya will miss the contest as he serves a one-match ban, which was carried forward from last season for three slow over-rate offences. So, it will be interesting to see, who among Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah will lead the side.
MI vs CSK IPL 2025 Match Date and Venue: The second El Clasico of the Indian Premier League season 18 will take place on Sunday (April 20) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with the match starting at 7:30 PM IST.
