The Indian Premier League 2025 is set to commence from March 22 as defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the opening match of the season.

The new cycle of the IPL commences this year and KKR will be at home in the first match of the season.

KKR secured their third title in IPL 2024 and will be aiming to replicate their last season's success. They will be without their talismanic mentor Gautam Gambhir, but expectations are high in KKR camp for this season as well. RCB, on the other hand, will be looking get their hands at the elusive IPL title for the first time. Both teams are set to emerge with new captains as well. RCB have already announced Rajat Patidar as their leader, while the Knights are yet to mention Shreyas Iyer's successor.

IPL 2025 Playoffs Venues

From the group stages, four teams emerge to the playoffs. This year, the IPL will conclude on May 25, and the final is set to be played in Kolkata. As per the IPL norms, the playoff matches of the current season take place in the stadiums of the previous year's finalists, which means Hyderabad and Kolkata are the playoff venues this year.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will host Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches, while the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host Qualifier 2 and the Final.

What are the Playoff Dates for IPL 2025?

Generally, the IPL playoff matches take place around a week. Qualifier 1 starts in the first half of the week while the final is played on a Sunday.
