Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill on Saturday (March 29) scripted history by becoming the first player to score 1000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Gill achieved this feat during his side's IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the venue. During the match, Gill scored 38 in 27 balls, with his knock consisting of four boundaries and a six. His runs came at a strike rate of 140.74.

Gill has now amassed 1024 runs in 20 matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with those runs coming at a strike rate of over 160, with 3 centuries and 4 fifties with the best score of 129. Here is a look at the top 5 run-getters in Ahmedabad:
Only Sai Sudharsan, who scored his second successive fifty in IPL 2025, is close to his captain Gill in the list. Narendra Modi Stadium, earlier called the Sardar Patel Stadium or Motera, had hosted IPL games even before the 2022 season, when Gujarat Titans made their IPL debut.
Coming back to the milestone, Gill reached the landmark in just 20 innings, making him the second-fastest batter in terms of innings played to reach the 1000 run mark at a single venue.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Hall of Famer Chris Gayle holds the record, having reached the 1000 run mark at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswammy Stadium in just 19 innings. Other greats like David Warner, Shaun Marsh and Suryakumar Yadav make up the top five alongside Gayle and Gill.
Overall, Gill has amassed 3287 runs in 105 appearances across his stints with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans. The 25-year-old has smashed 4 centuries and 20 fifties in his career with his career strike rate standing at 136.33.
Gill scored 38 off 27 balls and shared a 78-run stand with Sai Sudharsan, who top scored for his side with 63 off 41 balls to take GT to 196 before Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna produced splendid bowling spells to restrict Mumbai Indians to 160 on Saturday (March 29) night in Ahmedabad.
This performance saw GT register their first win of the IPL 2025 season. Gill and GT will next face in-form Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday (April 2),
