IPL 2025: Six Players RCB may release ahead of IPL 2026 auction despite winning IPL title

By MyKhel Staff

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's triumph was the result of a well-rounded, strategically disciplined campaign that marked a clear departure from their previous over-reliance on individual brilliance.

Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar and the tactical acumen of head coach Andy Flower, RCB operated with clarity, consistency, and intent. RCB went unbeaten in away matches and secured a fantastic maiden title, beating Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final.

RCB

Their batting was anchored by Virat Kohli, who enjoyed one of his most complete seasons, amassing over 650 runs with fluency and maturity. He was ably supported by Phil Salt and Patidar himself, both of whom played crucial knocks in high-pressure situations. The likes of Jitesh Sharma, Krunal Pandya, and Romario Shepherd- added firepower and stability, allowing the team to finish innings strongly.

On the bowling front, Josh Hazlewood led with authority, claiming 22 wickets and often providing breakthroughs in key moments. Suyash Sharma, Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal also played crucial part for the side.

After a wait of 17 and more years, RCB have finally managed to get their prized asset. The next step for RCB will be to consistently fight for the championship, and continue to preserve their core of the squad. But amid the recent triumph, there are still a few names who will have to seek pastures new.

RCB Temporary Signings in IPL 2025

RCB brought in Blessing Muzarabani, Mayank Agarwal and Tim Seifert as replacement signings in the latter part of the season. As per the IPL norms, the temporary replacements can't be retained for next season, which means the Bengaluru outfit will have to let those players go.

Apart from that, a few of the current roster players, who were roped in during the mega auction, may be released as well. Here are 3 names who may be shown the door ahead of the IPL 2026 season.

Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone was a big-money signing for RCB (Rs 8.75 crore), who has found things tough again this year. The England all-rounder only managed 112 runs at an average of 16 this season, and could only pick 2 wickets with the ball. Ahead of next season, RCB would like to clear up their budget and may look to discard Livingstone.

Rasikh Dar

Roped in for Rs 6.5 crore, which made him the most expensive uncapped player, Rasikh Salam Dar has been miserable in the IPL 2025. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer only played 2 matches and manged just 1 wicket, bowling at an economy of 11.67. He was left down in the pecking order and was mainly a spectator for the entirety of the IPL 2025 season. It is understandable if RCB plans to ship him on and clear up their budget ahead ot the mini auction.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a decent season with 17 wickets for RCB in IPL 2025. The veteran India pacer did well in patches and proved his credentials, but will RCB keep him next season? Bhuvi cost them Rs 10.75 crore in the auction, which may be too much for RCB to invest in the pacer again next season. It is a tricky situation at the moment, but it won't be a surprise if he returns to the auction table next season.
