IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) kicked off their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign in style with a thumping 44-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second match of the season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.
After being put into bat by Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag, SRH unleashed a relentless batting performance, amassing a massive total of 286/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

The standout performer was Ishan Kishan, who smashed a scintillating unbeaten 106 off just 47 balls, featuring 11 fours and 6 sixes, marking a sensational debut for the franchise.
Travis Head also provided a blistering start, hammering 67 runs from 31 deliveries, including 9 boundaries and 3 sixes. Abhishek Sharma contributed a quickfire 24, while Nitish Reddy added 30 runs to the total. Heinrich Klaasen kept the momentum going with an aggressive 34 off 14 balls.
Tushar Deshpande was the pick of the Rajasthan bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 43 runs. Maheesh Theekshana chipped in with 2 wickets, but the Royals' bowling attack was largely ineffective against the onslaught.
Chasing an imposing target of 287, Rajasthan Royals got off to a shaky start, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck and captain Riyan Parag for just 4 runs. Despite a valiant effort from Sanju Samson, who blasted 66 off 37 balls, and Shimron Hetmyer's explosive 42 off 23, the Royals could not keep up with the required run rate.
Dhruv Jurel added 70 off 35 deliveries in a resilient effort, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Shubham Dubey's 34* from 11 balls in the final overs was a fighting cameo, but it wasn't enough to take RR over the line.
For SRH, Harshal Patel led the bowling attack with 2 wickets for 32 runs. Simarjeet Singh also picked up two crucial wickets, while Mohammed Shami and Adam Zampa claimed one each to restrict Rajasthan to 242/6 in 20 overs.
Ishan Kishan's Century: A dazzling 106* on debut, setting the tone for SRH's dominance.
Travis Head's Blistering Knock: A 31-ball 67 that provided the perfect platform for a mammoth score.
Sanju Samson's Resistance: A fighting 66 off 37 balls in a losing cause.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: 286/6 in 20 overs (Ishan Kishan 106*, Travis Head 67, Tushar Deshpande 3/43)
