Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made a powerful statement in their IPL 2025 opener, carrying forward the explosive form they showcased in the previous season. Despite falling just short of breaking their own record, SRH piled on a massive 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, registering the second-highest team total in the tournament's history.
Leading the charge was Ishan Kishan, who marked his SRH debut with a scintillating century, scoring a stunning 106 runs.

His blistering knock, supported by aggressive contributions from other batters, propelled the team towards the monumental score. While SRH narrowly missed surpassing their own record by a single run, their dominance with the bat was undeniable. With this score, they now have the world record of scoring most 250-plus scores in T20 cricket, going past England's Surrey side.
The record for the highest IPL total remains in SRH's name. During the 2024 season, they notched up an astounding 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Adding another milestone to their tally, SRH have now achieved the distinction of being the only team to surpass the 250-run mark multiple times in T20 cricket.
Remarkably, SRH also occupy the third spot on the list of highest IPL totals. In a memorable showdown against Mumbai Indians (MI) last year at their home ground in Hyderabad, they amassed 277/3. With their latest exploit, that total has been relegated to third place.
Not far behind is Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who posted 272/7 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2024 season at Visakhapatnam, securing the fourth position. Meanwhile, SRH's consistency as an explosive batting unit is further underscored by their fifth-highest total of 266/7, achieved against DC in Delhi during IPL 2024.
Meanwhile in the run-chase of 287, Rajasthan Royals are presently batting at 169/5 after 15 overs of play as SRH sit in the driver's seat comfortably.
