IPL 2025 Suspended: Franchises Set To Send Their Players Home After League Suspension- Report

By MyKhel Staff

IPL 2025 Suspended: Following the suspension of the Indian Premier League 2025 for a week due to escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, franchise camps have begun organizing immediate travel arrangements for players and staff.

With security concerns heightened, especially after the incident in Dharamsala, most teams are preparing for a temporary disbanding of their squads - with overseas cricketers set to depart India.

IPL 2025 Suspended

The game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was halted mid-way after a sudden blackout at the stadium. The abrupt stoppage, reportedly tied to security alerts, sent ripples of concern through the cricketing community. While Indian players are expected to return to their hometowns, the foreign contingent has decided to leave the country for now.

Franchise and league officials are coordinating closely to assist with these exits. An IPL official told The Times of India, "All foreign players and support staff will be returning to their home countries. The franchises will handle the logistics, and a decision on their return will be taken later based on how the situation evolves." Another team representative added, "Everyone is heading back - that includes international players as well."

Currently, teams are stationed across various cities. While Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings are en route to the capital from Dharamsala, Mumbai Indians - camped in Ahmedabad - will return to Mumbai, where most of their equipment and kits are stored.

Gujarat Titans, who had traveled to Delhi, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru along with Lucknow Super Giants, based in Lucknow for a scheduled clash, are also dispersing. RCB players are expected to leave from Lucknow directly.

The BCCI, in a formal statement, underscored its support for the armed forces and the central government during this time of national emergency. The statement read:

"At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the Armed Forces and the people of our country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation, as they lead a resolute response to the recent terrorist attack and the unwarranted aggression by Pakistan's armed forces. While cricket remains a national passion, there is nothing greater than the Nation and its sovereignty, integrity, and security of our country. The BCCI remains firmly committed to support all efforts that safeguard India and will always align its decisions in the best interest of the nation."

Beyond the IPL, there are also concerns about the immediate future of international competitions like the Asia Cup and upcoming bilateral tours. The BCCI has not yet issued a final word on these fixtures but is expected to review the calendar based on how the national situation progresses.
