IPL 2025: Three T20 World Cup stars KKR can sign in the Mega Auction

Kolkata Knight Riders had an outstanding IPL 2024, where they ended their decade-long trophy drought with the 3rd IPL title.

The Knight Riders were excellent throughout the season and their star players performed in crucial matches as they mauled Sunrisers Hyderabad in the playoffs to secure the triumphant run.

But ahead of the IPL 2025, a plethora of changes are likely to take place. Their mentor Gautam Gambhir and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar have already left for India coaching duties, and a few players are likely to leave as well due to IPL's retention policy.

If the 4-player retention process is exercised, KKR will have let go of some of their key performers ahead of the mega auction. And in the auction table, the Knights will be aiming to recuperate the void.

The recent T20 World Cup was an excellent one for Team India as they clinched the title. Along with that, the world witnessed some terrific performances across the venues. And if KKR are to pick some players from the T20 World Cup, they can aim these three players-

Fazalhaq Farooqi

KKR are likely to release Mitchell Starc for his astronomical price. And if they are to replace the Australian pacer, the Knights can look for someone like Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi. The 23-year-old was the highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup with 17 wickets and showcased his elite skill against top-class opposition. Farooqi can be a magnificent buy for KKR who may get him at a moderate price.

Rohit Sharma

If Kolkata Knight Riders are in need of a captain, Rohit Sharma can be a perfect candidate. If Shreyas Iyer is left out by KKR for the auction, the Knights may have an attempt to secure Rohit Sharma's services, who is likely to leave Mumbai Indians. The India captain has left T20 at the international level but is a gem of a batter in the format. At the top of the KKR batting order, Rohit can be a force and thus likely to be a perfect player to bid for.

Rishad Hossain

Rishad Hossain was Bangladesh's one of the bright sparks in the T20 World Cup. The young spinner picked up 14 wickets and was ominous against most of the opponents. The legbreak bowler can be a great option for KKR, especially because of his batting prowess. Rishad, given he is just 22, has all the potential to be an international star and KKR can provide him a perfect platform. Also Eden Gardens can be a perfect fit for Rishad with his bowling skills.
