IPL 2025: Umran Malik ruled out due to recurring Hip Injury, could have been Fit in 30 Days | Exclusive
Kolkata Knight Riders discarded Umran Malik from their IPL 2025 squad as the Jammu and Kashmir pacer got ruled out from the tournament with an injury.
KKR have already brought in Chetan Sakariya as his replacement but the speedster missing out is a big blow for them.

Umran was bought for Rs 75 lakh in the IPL mega auction and KKR had high hopes for him, but MyKhel understands the pacer is struggling with a recurring injury which has taken a toll.
The Kashmir pacer has been out with injury all season and didn't play a single domestic match. He has been at the NCA all season but expectations were there regarding his participation in the IPL.
"He has been injury-prone and suffering from injury since last season only. He didn't play any tournament and didn't participate in any of our training camps due to rehab. We were quite hopeful that he would recover by now. But unfortunately, he has not been declared fit. Otherwise, we are quite hopeful that at least IPL is going to play," a JKCA official told MyKhel.
"But as per him, he will need about 25-30 days more to fully recover. So it will take around one month for him to recover," he added.
Even MyKhel talked to another JKCA official Majid Dar in January, who was also optimistic about Umran Malik playing in the tournament. It seems the pacer was close to full fitness but will have to sit out this edition of the tournament as well.
When asked about the nature of injury, Mr. Gupta says it is a recurring issue on hips which has kept on troubling the India fast bowler.
"It's something to do with his hip. But it has been a recurring problem."
Mayanak Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah are among the players who are also unavailable for their respective franchises at the moment. Both pacers are expected to play a part in the later part and have been kept in the squad. But KKR opted to move on from Umran Malik as they roped in Sakariya as a replacement.
