Virat Kohli is willing to be back as captain for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025, as per reports.
Kohli, who stepped down from RCB's throne a couple of years ago, is eyeing a return to his leadership role next year.

Faf du Plessis, who led the team for the 2022-2024 cycle, has been praised for his leadership, guiding the team to the playoffs twice. However, his age has become a factor, opening up an opportunity for Kohli to return as captain.
Kohli's leadership is not new to RCB as he captained the team from 2013 to 2021, achieving significant success, including a run to the finals in 2016. Despite his previous resignation, Kohli has shown interest in captaining the team again during a recent talk with the RCB management, as per a report from Times of India.
Kohli is said to be keen on leading the team again as their quest for the IPL continues. Kohli's potential return as captain, if happens, will come at a crucial time for RCB, a team that has consistently had strong fan support but has yet to win the IPL title. Under his leadership, RCB will be hopeful of breaking their title drought, a goal that has eluded them since the inception of the league in 2008.
RCB's squad for the 2025 season could see significant changes, with the management possibly bringing in fresh talent through the mega auction. Kohli is the prime candidate for the retention while Mohammed Siraj is also tipped to be kept in the RCB books for the next IPL cycle.
Amid the Kohli captaincy chatter, RCB have also kept their eye on KL Rahul. The India player is leaving Lucknow Super Giants and is very interested in playing for his home team RCB. If the franchise ropes in Rahul, the captaincy question shall arise again.
