Virat Kohli, the star Indian cricketer, has once again etched his name in the Indian Premier League (IPL) record books. During his milestone 400th T20 match on Saturday, March 22, Kohli became the first player to score 1000 runs against four different teams in the league's history.
The historic achievement came during the IPL 2025 opener between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Facing KKR in what was his 35th IPL match against them, Kohli required 38 runs to reach the landmark. He achieved the milestone with a single off Sunil Narine's delivery in the 10th over of RCB's run chase. This feat solidifies his dominance in the tournament and further strengthens his reputation as the league's all-time leading run-scorer.
Kohli now joins an elite group of batters with 1000 or more runs against KKR, alongside David Warner (1093) and Rohit Sharma (1070). However, what sets Kohli apart is his ability to consistently perform against multiple teams. In addition to KKR, he has surpassed the 1000-run mark against Chennai Super Kings (1053), Delhi Capitals (1057), and Punjab Kings (1030).
The RCB stalwart's achievement reflects his remarkable consistency and longevity in the IPL, a tournament he has been a part of since its inception in 2008. Over the years, Kohli has established himself as a dependable run-getter, delivering match-winning performances across various conditions and against formidable opponents.
Speaking of the match, RCB chased down a target of 175 with ease, thanks to quick-fire half-centuries from Phil Salt and King Kohli himself.
With the 2025 season underway, cricket enthusiasts will be eager to witness how many more records the prolific batter can break. Kohli's unparalleled contributions to the cash-rich league continue to inspire young cricketers, proving why he remains one of the most celebrated names in the history of the sport.
