In the IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 29 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Dushmantha Chameera pulled off a stunner in the field.

During the 19th over of KKR's innings, Chameera executed a remarkable diving catch at sweeper cover to dismiss Anukul Roy off Mitchell Starc's bowling. ​

Earlier in the match, Chameera faced challenges with the ball, conceding 25 runs in his first over as Sunil Narine launched an aggressive assault. However, he demonstrated resilience by claiming the wicket of Angkrish Raghuvanshi in his subsequent over, showcasing his ability to rebound effectively. ​

But in the 19th over, Chameera took a special catch to dismiss Anukul Roy. A fast pacer overpitched delivery was clipped by Anukul Roy which had exceptional timing, but Chameera ran to his left and then dived to pick up an absolute blinder. The commentators were left in awe, especially Sunil Gavaskar, who heaped praises on the Lanka pacer for his excellent catch.

Chameera's exceptional fielding, particularly his diving catch, underscores the critical role of athleticism and alertness in T20 cricket. Although the Capitals were guilty of a few mis fields this season, Chameera's catch has further heightened the benchmark.

Earlier in the season, SRH player Kamindu Mendis took another stunning catch to dismiss Dewald Brevis in the match against the Chennai Super Kings.
