Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) received huge boost as head coach Justin Langer recently provided an exciting update on the recovery of tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav, revealing that the India speedster is well on his way to recovery and could soon be available for selection in IPL 2025.
LSG suffered a blow at the start of the season with four of their India-heavy pace attack missing action through injury. Mayank, who was the second most expensive retention by LSG ahead of the action, joined Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan and Akash Deep on the sidelines before the tournament.

Despite these challenges, the Super Giants have managed to secure two victories from their first four games, including a thrilling 12-run win over Mumbai Indians on Friday (April 4) night, when one of the injured pacers made his comeback.
Akash Deep recovered and rejoined the squad only on April 2nd, but made his LSG debut just two days later. Avesh Khan missed the season-opener, but had made his comeback in the second match of the season. Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan was replaced by Shardul Thakur, who has been pivotal in LSG's wins this season.
Now, only Mayank Yadav is sidelined for LSG, and continues his recovery at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The Delhi speedster also is very close returning to action as per the latest update from the Lucknow Super Giants head coach. Here is the latest on the pacer's fitness:
Mayank Yadav injury update: The promising quick has seen his career hampered by injuries. While he missed the whole of 2023 season, he also missed part of the 2024 season when he announced his arrival to the global stage and went on to earn his first international cap.
Having made an impression on his Team India bow, Mayank once again served time on the sidelines due to injury. However, there is some positive update on the 22-year-old, as per the statements from Langer.
Yadav, who has been sidelined due to a lumbar stress injury sustained during India's T20I series against Bangladesh last October, is now bowling at around 90-95% of his full fitness at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (formerly the NCA) in Bengaluru.
This progress is a major boost for LSG, whose pace attack has been stretched thin in the early stages of the IPL 2025 season. Speaking after the match, Langer confirmed that Mayank's recovery was progressing well and that the pacer is eager to return to action.
"What I do know is he's working very hard at the NCA. I saw some video of him bowling yesterday [Thursday], and he was bowling at about 90 to 95 percent. So Mayank's up and running, which is really great for Indian cricket and the IPL," Langer said after LSG's 12-run win over Mumbai Indians.
"We saw the impact he had last year, and I don't think there's been a bowler in India who's bowled faster than Mayank Yadav. That's why there's so much talk about him," Langer stated.
Langer also expressed optimism about Mayank's potential return, suggesting that it could be just a matter of time before he's back on the field. "He's up. He's keen to get going. He bowled really well in Bangalore yesterday at the NCA. I think after another couple of bowls, we'll hopefully see him back soon," Langer added.
The head coach also praised the efforts of the NCA, which has been instrumental in getting LSG's injured players back on the field. "To their credit, the NCA have done a fantastic job. They've helped get Avesh Khan and Akash Deep back for us, and now we're hoping for Mayank's return as well," Langer noted.
