The left-arm pacer is set to make his debut for the Royals and will be hoping to make a mark in his debut with the new team.

Kwena Tshegofatso Maphaka, born on April 8, 2006, in Johannesburg, South Africa, is a left-arm fast bowler who has rapidly ascended through the ranks of international cricket. At just 18 years old, Maphaka has already made significant strides, representing South Africa across all three formats and showcasing his talent in prominent leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and SA20.
Kwena's cricketing journey commenced at a young age, and he honed his skills at St Stithians College, the same institution that produced South African pacer Kagiso Rabada.
Maphaka's prowess became evident during his participation in two ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cups. At 15, he featured in three matches in the 2022 U19 World Cup, claiming seven wickets at an average of 18.28. In the 2024 U19 World Cup, he delivered a record-breaking performance, taking 21 wickets at an astonishing average of 9.71. His haul included three five-wicket performances-the most by any player in a single edition of the tournament. This feat earned him the Player of the Tournament accolade.
Maphaka's transition to senior international cricket was swift and impactful. He made his T20I debut on August 23, 2024, against West Indies, becoming South Africa's youngest male international cricketer at 18 years and 137 days. He made his ODI debut on December 19, 2024, versus Pakistan, where he impressed with figures of 4/72, including the wicket of Babar Azam. He made his Test debut on January 3, 2025, against Pakistan, marking him as South Africa's youngest Test debutant.
