Chennai Super Kings have signed Urvil Patel for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The Gujarat player has been added as a replacement for Vansh Bedi, who is ruled out with an injury.
The announcement came on Monday, which indicates that Urvil has joined the CSK side immediately and is available for their next match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday (May 7).

Urvil Mukesh Patel, born on October 17, 1998, in Mehsana, Gujarat, is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter who has emerged as one of India's most explosive talents in domestic cricket. Standing at 5 feet 8 inches, Patel has represented Baroda and Gujarat in domestic competitions and was part of the Gujarat Titans squad in the IPL 2023 season.
Patel made his T20 debut for Baroda in January 2018 during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and his List A debut in February 2018 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He transitioned to first-class cricket in the 2023–24 Ranji Trophy season.
In November 2024, Patel etched his name in the record books by scoring a 28-ball century against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, becoming the fastest Indian to achieve this feat in T20 cricket. His unbeaten 113 off 35 balls included 12 sixes and 7 fours, propelling Gujarat to a swift victory.
Earlier, in November 2023, he recorded a 41-ball century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Arunachal Pradesh, marking the second-fastest List A century by an Indian.
As of March 2025, Patel's domestic cricket statistics are as follows:
Patel was acquired by the Gujarat Titans for ₹20 lakh in the IPL 2023 auction but did not feature in any matches that season. Despite his remarkable domestic performances, he went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. However, in May 2025, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) called him up as a mid-season replacement, and he scored 41 and 50 for them in trial matches.
As of 2024, Patel's estimated net worth stands at approximately ₹80 lakh, primarily earned through domestic cricket engagements and his IPL contract with the Gujarat Titans. His base price in the IPL 2025 auction was set at Rs 30 lakh, although he remained unsold.
He has been roped in by CSK for Rs 30 lakh and he will get an additional payment of Rs 7.5 lakh per match as match fee if he makes any appearance in the season.
