IPL 2025: Who was the Unsung Hero of CSK vs RCB Match At Chepauk?

CSK vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched a convincing 50-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 8th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, held at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, March 28.

While Rajat Patidar's explosive half-century earned him the Player of the Match title, it was the RCB bowlers who truly emerged as the unsung heroes of the night.

CSK vs RCB

RCB's Batting Brilliance

After losing the toss and being put to bat first, RCB set a formidable target of 196/7 in their 20 overs. Phil Salt provided a blazing start, scoring 32 off 16 balls at a strike rate of 200 before falling to Noor Ahmad. Virat Kohli, playing the anchor role, contributed a steady 31 off 30 deliveries.

However, it was captain Rajat Patidar who stole the spotlight, leading from the front with a scintillating 51 off 32 balls. His aggressive knock, which included four sixes and three boundaries, propelled RCB to a strong total. Devdutt Padikkal's quickfire 27 off 14 balls and Tim David's late flourish with an unbeaten 22 off 8 balls ensured RCB crossed the 190-run mark.

For CSK, Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler, taking 3/36 in his four-over spell. Matheesha Pathirana and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with crucial breakthroughs.

CSK's Batting Woes

Chasing 197, CSK faced an uphill battle as they crumbled under pressure. They lost Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi within the first two overs, leaving the team in a precarious position. Rachin Ravindra tried to stabilize the innings with a gritty 41 off 31 balls, but consistent wickets at the other end made the chase insurmountable.

RCB's bowlers showcased their class, with Josh Hazlewood leading the charge. The Australian pacer picked up 3/21 in four overs, dismantling CSK's top order. Yash Dayal complemented him brilliantly, taking 2/18, while Liam Livingstone chipped in with 2/28 to maintain the pressure.

Despite a late counterattack by MS Dhoni, who smashed an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls, CSK fell well short, finishing at 146/8 in their 20 overs.

The Unsung Heroes

While Rajat Patidar's captain's knock was instrumental in RCB's victory, the bowlers were undoubtedly the backbone of the triumph. Hazlewood's disciplined spell, Dayal's crucial breakthroughs, and Livingstone's timely strikes collectively stifled CSK's chase.

In a format where batting performances often steal the headlines, the RCB bowling unit proved that matches are won as much with the ball as they are with the bat.
