IPL 2025: Who was Unsung Hero in Vaibhav Suryavanshi Fireworks vs Gujarat Titans in Jaipur?

By MyKhel Staff

IPL 2025: While Vaibhav Suryavanshi set Jaipur ablaze with his record-shattering hundred, it was Yashasvi Jaiswal who quietly earned the title of the Unsung Hero in Rajasthan Royals' thrilling win over Gujarat Titans.

In a night dominated by a 14-year-old's fearless batting, Jaiswal's composed 70* off 40 balls played the perfect foil. His calm presence at the crease ensured that the chase, as explosive as it was, never spiralled into chaos.

RR vs GT Unsung Hero Yashasvi Jaiswal Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Even as Suryavanshi unleashed a boundary-storm, Jaiswal held one end with maturity, allowing the youngster to express himself fully. Suryavanshi's fireworks rightfully stole the spotlight - the youngest centurion in men's T20 cricket, the second-fastest IPL century (35 balls), and a blitz that featured a jaw-dropping 94 runs in boundaries.

Yet, without Jaiswal's stability and occasional bursts of aggression, Rajasthan Royals might have faced a tougher road. When Jaiswal was dropped early, he made GT pay with a flurry of boundaries that helped RR race ahead in the powerplay.

His ability to rotate strike, coupled with timely fours and sixes, ensured that Vaibhav wasn't left stranded looking for partners. He absorbed pressure at critical moments - especially when Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna tightened the screws - and kept the asking rate within manageable reach.

What stood out about Jaiswal's innings was the complete absence of ego. Recognising that Suryavanshi was in a different zone, Jaiswal was content playing second fiddle, despite being an established IPL star himself. He provided the cushion that allowed Suryavanshi to swing freely at Ishant Sharma, Karim Janat, and even Rashid Khan without the fear of RR slipping into trouble.

In many ways, Jaiswal's knock resembled the classical art of anchoring a T20 chase - aggressive when needed, patient when required, and above all, selfless. His 70* will not feature in the headlines next to Suryavanshi's historic 101, but without it, Rajasthan's fastest-ever chase of a 200-plus score would not have materialised in just 15.5 overs.

Jaiswal also displayed excellent game awareness against GT's captain-for-the-day Rashid Khan, and India's off-spinner, Washington Sundar. His shot selection, particularly the inside-out drives and sweeps, ensured RR did not get bogged down when the spinners operated in tandem.

At the post-match presentation, even Jaiswal himself couldn't hide his awe, calling Suryavanshi's innings "one of the best I have ever seen." It was a night for records, a night for youthful dreams realised - but also a night when quiet brilliance played its role to perfection.

In the noise of sixes and centuries, Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as the silent warrior - the unsung hero - whose maturity and selflessness made sure the Royals' playoff hopes stayed alive.
