IPL 2025: The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) brings an unusual twist in its scheduling, with a rare weekday double-header set for Tuesday, April 8.
While fans are accustomed to twin matches on weekends, particularly Saturdays and Sundays, two games being played on a Tuesday has stirred curiosity among cricket enthusiasts.

Originally, only one match was scheduled for April 8 - a clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). However, the fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which was initially set to take place on April 6, was moved to April 8 due to unavoidable circumstances.
April 6 coincided with the festival of Ram Navami, during which several religious processions were held in Kolkata. With large gatherings across the city, the local police and administrative forces were fully engaged in maintaining law and order. As a result, adequate security arrangements for the IPL match at Eden Gardens were not feasible.
In light of these security concerns, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to reschedule the KKR vs LSG encounter to April 8, thereby creating a double-header on a weekday. Though there were reports suggesting a venue change - possibly shifting the game to Guwahati - KKR opted to retain their home advantage. The board respected the franchise's request and made adjustments accordingly.
As per the revised schedule:
KKR vs LSG will kick off the day's action at 3:30 PM IST at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
CSK vs PBKS will follow at 7:30 PM IST as originally planned.
Ajinkya Rahane, the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders, won the toss and decided to field first in their afternoon clash against the Lucknow Super Giants.
Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w), Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane(c), Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Spencer Johnson, Varun Chakaravarthy.
