IPL 2025: Why is Rajat Patidar not Captaining RCB Today against LSG?

By MyKhel Staff

RCB's acting captain Jitesh Sharma has given a major update during the Toss in the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday (May 27).

Jitesh Sharma came out to toss again for RCB due to Rajat Patidar's injury. The designated RCB skipper is currently managing a finger injury sustained during a match against Chennai Super Kings on May 3.

RCB vs LSG: Why is Rajat Patidar not playing Today?

Despite resuming batting in practice sessions, he was not included in the playing XI for the recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with Jitesh Sharma stepping in as captain. And the same has happened in the match against LSG.

Will Rajat Patidar come out to Bat?

And during the toss, Jitesh made the revelation that Patidar will be coming out to bat as an Impact Player again. Although teams name five players in the Impact list, Rajat's mention by Jitesh clearly denotes that the Madhya Pradesh star will be coming out to bat as an Impact Player.

"We will field first. Looks like a good wicket, we'll fancy to chase. Rajat Patidar is our impact player. Looking to win and make it into the top-two. Tim David misses out, Liam comes in, so does Thushara, he replaces Ngidi who left the team," Sharma said at the Toss.

RCB will need a victory today to progress to the playoffs as a top-two team. A defeat would keep them in the 3rd position and that means they will have to play Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator.
