The Chennai Super Kings fans may be floating in the cloud of nostalgia as MS Dhoni is likely to captain them in the IPL 2025 season.
Yes, it may seem a fairy tale, but there is a legitimate possibility of Dhoni captaining CSK again and that may happen in the next match.

The veteran has led CSK for several years before calling it quits last season, as Ruturaj Gaikwad took over the duties. But the CSK coach Michael Hussey deduced without taking Dhoni's name that the former India captain is being considered as a captain.
CSK have made a poor start to the IPL 2025 campaign. After winning the first match against Mumbai Indians, they suffered consecutive defeats at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals. Although results so far haven't been rosy, it is not that Ruturaj Gaikwad is getting axed from his role.
A few seasons ago, Ravindra Jadeja was appointed captain for CSK but the management reinstated Dhoni to the role amid the season due to poor run of results. But MS Dhoni's reclaiming of the leader's arm band this time is not related to that.
Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is recovering from a right forearm injury he picked up in the team's recent clash against Rajasthan Royals. The blow came from a Tushar Deshpande delivery that reared up awkwardly from a short of good length and struck him on the arm.
Despite receiving treatment on the field, Gaikwad continued to bat, but he has not participated in training sessions since the incident. On Friday, CSK batting coach Mike Hussey said the team would assess his fitness based on his performance in the nets.
"We're hoping he'll have a hit today at training. It's still a bit sore, but it's improving daily. We're very hopeful and quite confident that he'll be available for tomorrow's game," Hussey stated.
If Gaikwad is not fit for the match against the Capitals, Dhoni will be out for the Toss against the Capitals.
