Former Indian cricketers Navjot Singh Sidhu and Ambati Rayudu got into an ugly spat on live TV commentary during the IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur on Tuesday (April 8).
The incident happened when Rayudu accused Sidhu of switching loyalties and called him a "girgit" (chameleon). Sindhu, who is not the one to back off, gave a strong reply to silence Rayudu and the other commentator on air.

Retorting to Rayudu's comment, Sidhu said, "Is sansar me girgit ki tarah koi hai to tumhare aradhyadev hai (if there's someone in this world who is like chameleon, it is your idol)". The clip of the war of words between the two former cricketers has since gone viral on social media.
Fans on social media could not wait to weigh in on their take and also referred to Rayudu's "aradhyadev" as CSK veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Rayudu, a staunchest of fans of Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni, has never hid his love for his former team during his analysis. The 39-year-old has also been triggering the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fanbase on social media since CSK's defeat to the Bengaluru-based side in 2024.
In fact, the former Andhra and Hyderabad cricketer was also involved in an verbal exchange with former India opener Sanjay Bangar during IPL 2025 commentary before the PBKS vs CSK clash with regards to their views on Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
With Rohit reduced to an impact player role at MI, Bangar stressed the importance of the Indian skipper on the field as a strategic partner to skipper Hardik, but Rayudu disagreed, saying the Mumbai Indians captain doesn't need anyone else's inputs.
"I don't think Hardik needs input. A captain needs to be left alone. Dhoni was not at his ears all the time. Same for Rohit. Then why should Hardik have 10 people at his ears? No, captain has to be left alone, Sanjay bhai," Rayudu told Bangar.
The former Indian batting coach replied, "For you, it was different because you never led an IPL team. But here is a guy who has led the team to multiple IPL titles."
