Assistant coach Sunil Joshi confirmed that Chahal was sidelined due to a "small niggle," noting that the decision to rest him was precautionary.

"Chahal has a small niggle, so we are just resting him. That's the idea," Joshi said.

Despite the setback, he had previously delivered a match-winning performance while carrying the same injury, picking up 4 wickets for 28 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders and earning the Player of the Match award.

In his absence, PBKS handed a chance to Praveen Dubey, who struggled to make an impression, conceding 20 runs in just two overs without claiming a wicket. The void left by Chahal's absence was clearly felt, emphasizing his importance in the spin bowling department.

Sunil Joshi has frequently highlighted Chahal's mental toughness and match awareness. Earlier in the season, Joshi remarked, "Big match players don't need to be reminded of what they are capable of.
