IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Abhishek Nayar, in the pre-match press conference, said that with the retirement of Andre Russell, the doors will open for Indian stars Rinku Singh and Ramandeep Singh, who are expected to step up in the IPL.

Praising Russell's irreplaceable T20 legacy for the franchise, Nayar called this "a season of opportunities." "Rinku has taken that responsibility for India and KKR, and Ramandeep did it when we won the championship," he said. The duo, he added, can cement their place in KKR history amid the IPL's high stakes.

Urging the youngsters to embrace the pressure of the IPL and shine true to their potential, he added that they can etch their names into the franchise's history alongside other promising talents. "We're hopeful they replicate those performances and create something special," Nayar concluded.

According to Nayar, this support system will be key in helping KKR maintain stability and overcome hurdles during the campaign.
