The IPL 2026 auction delivered its usual drama, but uncapped players and domestic gems yet to earn an international cap-proved to be the real value hunt.
Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma were the biggest gainers, as the duo were bought by Chennai Super Kings at Rs 14.2 crore each. Jammu and Kashmir's Auqib Nabi also fetched a massive Rs 8.4 crore as Delhi Capitals bought him.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) led the uncapped charge, snapping up a mega 8 players, the highest haul by any team. In a cheeky twist, they were the only franchise to splash on an uncapped overseas prospect, Australia's rising all-rounder Jack Edwards, signalling their appetite for global uncapped flair. SRH's strategy echoes their aggressive rebuild post a stellar 2024, prioritising depth without breaking the bank.
At the other end, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) flexed their champion instincts by forking out the most for uncapped talent: a hefty Rs 28.8 crore across just 3 players.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) played it ultra-conservative, securing all their uncapped players at the base price. For MI, it's a classic core-preservation move; for PBKS, the minimal rebuild is required after a stellar IPL 2025 season.
KKR, on the other hand, bought four uncapped gems at base price, while paying Rs 3 crore for Tejasvi Singh.
40 uncapped players, 30 Indian and 1 overseas - were sold in the mini auction. 26 of these names were bought at their base price of Rs 30 lakh.
The ten teams spent a total of Rs 66.25 crore on those 40 uncapped players, Rs 1.65 crore on average.
Out of these players, 31 have never been part of any IPL team in the past.
Maharashtra's Satvik Deswal, born on 7th June, 2007, is the youngest uncapped player sold in the IPL 2026 mini auction.
