IPL 2026 Auction: The IPL 2026 auction, set to unfold in Abu Dhabi today on 16th Dec, where we will see an extensive pool of over 350 cricketers enter the bidding arena. Proceedings are scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM IST, with the league's 10 franchises collectively able to add up to 77 players to their squads.

Within that limit, teams have the option to recruit a maximum of 31 overseas players as they look to strengthen their line-ups for the upcoming season.

The focus will be on a number of Bengal players going into the auction, who are tipped to fetch a lot of traction from the franchises. There's not many Bengal players in the IPL. But this time around, the best of the lot will be vying for a place in the cash-rich league.

At the forefront is Akash Deep, the India international fast bowler whose consistency in red-ball cricket has earned him recognition as one of the country's rising pace assets. With previous IPL experience at Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants, Akash is expected to draw strong interest from multiple franchises.

All-rounder Karan Lal, who impressed in the Bengal Pro T20 League, could also be on the radar of teams looking for domestic utility players. Another familiar name is Ishan Porel, who once represented Punjab Kings and carries significant domestic experience for Bengal.

Left-arm swing bowler Ravi Kumar, a standout performer in India's 2022 U-19 World Cup triumph, has been in excellent form at the U-23 level and may attract scouts searching for long-term bowling prospects.

The last-minute inclusion was Abhimanyu Easwaran, who found his way in the Auction Player List. Easwaran has already been part of the Test set-up of the national team but he is yet to get a chance to represent the nation. A high-profile name, surely there will be buyers who will be looking to buy him. Even though his last-minute inclusion was due to a request from one of the franchises.
