IPL 2026: "Batters No Longer Hold Back": Bhuvneshwar Kumar Decodes T20 Bowling after DC win
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) delivered a masterclass in the IPL 2026, handing the Delhi Capitals (DC) a crushing nine-wicket defeat.
Following the match, RCB pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided deep insights into the evolving nature of T20 cricket, tactical bowling, and individual brilliance. The indian pacer was excellent on the night as he picked up three wickets, breaking the back of Delhi batting early.

The modern T20 game has forced bowlers to continuously adapt. Speaking on JioHotstar's 'Google Search AI Mode Match Centre Live', Bhuvneshwar Kumar highlighted how batters approach the new ball today compared to previous eras.
"The biggest change is that batters no longer hold back, even when the ball is swinging in the Powerplay. Earlier, there was more respect for conditions, but now the approach is consistently aggressive. That's where the mindset shift for bowlers becomes important, being defensive isn't negative, it's about bowling to a plan and targeting weaknesses. A lot of it comes down to preparation and understanding situations. The planning, even down to small details, plays a big role, and having experienced players like Josh Hazlewood helps, because that communication on the field becomes crucial in adapting to conditions," Bhuvneshwar said.
Kumar also noted how his approach changes dynamically based on the pitch conditions.
"The approach becomes more defensive, not in a negative way, but with the focus on controlling runs and avoiding boundaries, especially against aggressive batters," he added.
Despite the shift in batter mentality, Kumar credits his red-ball experience for keeping his fundamentals strong.
"While conditions and the ball do play a role, the basics remain the most important, wrist position, alignment, and control over line and length... When the ball does swing, it becomes a major advantage for bowlers, and that's when you look to exploit it as much as possible," he concluded.
