IPL 2026: CSK announce Khaleel Ahmed Replacement ahead of LSG Clash
Chennai Super Kings have acted swiftly to bolster their pace attack by signing left-arm pacer Kuldip Yadav as a replacement for injured Khaleel Ahmed in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. The move comes at a crucial juncture as CSK fight to secure a playoff spot.
Khaleel Ahmed, who had been a key component in CSK’s bowling unit, suffered a Grade 2 tear in his right quadriceps during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14.

Medical scans confirmed the severity, forcing him into a 10-12 week rehabilitation period and ruling him out for the remainder of the tournament. The five-time champions, currently sitting in the playoff race with 12 points from 11 matches, needed an immediate like-for-like replacement to maintain their bowling balance.
Who is Kuldip Yadav? CSK's new Recruitment
Kuldip Yadav, a 29-year-old Delhi-based left-arm medium-fast bowler, joins CSK for a reported fee of INR 30 lakh. He brings prior IPL experience, having represented Rajasthan Royals in 2021 and 2023, where he featured in three matches and picked up two wickets. Though not a household name, Kuldip has shown promise in domestic cricket with consistent wickets in first-class and T20 formats. His ability to swing the new ball and operate effectively in the powerplay makes him a valuable addition to CSK’s pace resources.
This signing reflects CSK’s strategy of backing experienced domestic talents during injury crises. With key matches ahead, including a potential clash against Lucknow Super Giants, Kuldip will look to make an immediate impact under the guidance of the CSK think-tank.
Incidentally, England pacer Jamie Overton has also returned to his country mid-season, as it was announced by CSK on Wednesday. Overton has been a key part of the team this season with his all-round contributions, but is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
