IPL 2026: CSK pacer Khaleel Ahmed undergoes Successful Surgery after Season Ending Injury
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed will not play any more matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The team announced on Saturday that the pacer had a successful surgery to fix a right quadriceps (thigh muscle) injury.
Khaleel hurt his leg during a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Chepauk Stadium on April 16. Because of this serious injury, he had to leave the tournament early.

The Chennai Super Kings shared the news on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). They posted, "Khaleel has undergone a successful surgery! Wishing him strength and a quick recovery."
The team also officially confirmed that the injury is severe enough to keep him off the field for a long time. It will take more than 12 weeks (about three months) for his leg to fully heal. Fans and teammates are wishing him a smooth and speedy recovery.
Khaleel Ahmed's IPL Stats and Journey
Before his injury, Khaleel played five matches in the IPL 2026 season. However, he struggled to find his rhythm, taking only 2 wickets with an economy rate of 8.67. His best bowling performance this year was 1 wicket for 24 runs.
His numbers this year were a step down from his previous season with CSK, where he performed very well. Last season, he played 14 matches and took 15 wickets.
Throughout his IPL career, Khaleel has played for three teams: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Over the years, he has proven to be a reliable bowler, taking a total of 91 wickets in the IPL with an impressive best figure of 3 wickets for 21 runs.
While CSK will miss his experience for the rest of the 2026 season, the focus is now entirely on his rest and recovery.
