Sunrisers Hyderabad have roped in English pacer David Payne as an injury replacement ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026, while Kolkata Knight Riders have also made a change to their squad following a major injury setback.
Payne has been signed as a replacement for Jack Edwards, bringing with him vast T20 experience. The left-arm seamer has featured in 233 T20 matches, picking up 304 wickets, and has also represented England in ODIs. He will join SRH for INR 1.5 crore, adding depth and experience to their bowling attack ahead of the new season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be banking on Payne's experience in franchise cricket to strengthen their pace department. Known for his consistency and ability to operate in pressure situations, Payne is expected to play a key role in SRH's campaign.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders have been forced into a change after Akash Deep was ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a lumbar stress injury.
The right-arm pacer, who has played 10 Tests for India and taken 28 wickets, will now undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
KKR have signed left-arm pacer Saurabh Dubey as his replacement for INR 30 lakh. The franchise will hope Dubey can step up and provide balance to their bowling attack in Akash Deep's absence.
With the IPL 2026 season approaching, teams are making final adjustments to their squads to cope with injuries and maintain balance. Both SRH and KKR will be hoping their new signings can quickly integrate into the setup and deliver when it matters.
