IPL 2026: Former KKR coach joins Gujarat Titans ahead of New Season

Gujarat Titans have unveiled a key addition to their backroom team, naming ex-India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as Assistant Coach for the upcoming IPL 2026 season.

Dahiya, a prominent name in Indian cricket, donned the national colors in 19 ODIs and two Tests. He carved out a stellar domestic legacy with Delhi, later steering them to Ranji Trophy glory in 2007-08 as coach. His extensive experience spans domestic circuits and IPL franchises, making him a valuable asset.

Since bursting onto the IPL scene in 2022, the Gujarat Titans have proven their mettle, clinching the title in their debut year and storming into the playoffs in three of four seasons. Vijay Dahiya had a distinguished career as both player and coach in Indian cricket. As a wicketkeeper-batter, he played 19 ODIs for India, scoring 216 runs at 16.61 average with a top of 51, plus 19 catches and 5 stumpings. In 2 Tests, he made 6 dismissals.

Domestically with Delhi, he excelled in 84 first-class matches, aggregating 3,532 runs at 33.63 with 3 hundreds, alongside 196 catches and 20 stumpings.

Vijay Dahiya Coaching Career

Post-retirement, Dahiya coached Delhi to the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy title. His IPL coaching stints include Delhi Daredevils, and now Gujarat Titans as Assistant Coach for IPL 2026. Dahiya had also worked with India head coach Gautam Gambhir at the Lucknow Super Giants in 2023.

Gujarat Titans Coaching Revamp ahead of IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans have made a key coaching addition ahead of IPL 2026 by appointing former Australian opener Matthew Hayden as their new batting coach. The announcement came on March 10, 2026, just weeks before the season opener on March 28. Hayden, a dominant batter and two-time World Cup winner, joins the support staff led by head coach Ashish Nehra, Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki, and wicketkeeping coach Parthiv Patel. Vijay Dahiya is the latest addition to this setup.
